Isn't economic progress the only way to get out of poverty?

  1. I do not think that those buildings reflect coming out of poverty. I think it is ignoring the fact that even poverty is diverse. It seeks to call urbanisation as being better compared to life before urbanisation. This definition of progress has to do with where you leaned your economics.

  2. It's probably the case that people did not increase their level of happiness, but can you deny that they have better living conditions than before?

  3. Also, just to clarify, relative poverty will always exist. However, extreme poverty can be eliminated by making economic progress.

  4. If you disagree with me on this one, then there is clearly something wrong with the definition of progress. If urbanization is not considered as progress, then what is? Should go back to living in the cave?

  5. Urbanization is actually what hold people together because there are so many people living in this world now - over 7 billion. If we didn't come up with the idea of urbanization, we would now be pushing each other around to scramble for territory/space.
